Silver coin Bob and Bobby - Gardeners proof

On the second silver coin from the Czech Mint's collector mini-series dedicated to Bob and Bobek, both rabbits are depicted as enthusiastic gardeners.

Although they look the same at first glance, every child can tell the rabbits apart. Their names alone suggest that Bob is the larger one and Bobek the smaller. Their creator, Vladimír Jiránek, brought them to life in 1978 with a few simple but effective strokes, using only two colors – black and white. A few curves, two dots for eyes and a cross for a mouth and nose, and a rabbit is born. Why did the Czech graphic artist choose rabbits? Because of his cartoons from 1968, he came under the scrutiny of the communist regime, so he started drawing animals. They could say things that human characters could not get away with.

Medal maker Petr Patka, DiS., dedicated the reverse side of the coin to Bob and Bobek, who are juggling the rich harvest they have grown in their garden. Because Czech Mint coins are issued with a foreign license of the island of Niue, they also bear the portrait of King Charles III, the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the year of issue, 2025 on the obverse side.
