Product description

The traditional sports set of circulation coins from the Czech National Bank and the Czech Mint, which is the official supplier to the Czech Olympic Team, is dedicated to the Winter Olympics in Italy in 2026.

The world's biggest celebration of winter sports was hosted by the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo from February 6 to 22, 2026. The regions of Lombardy and Veneto and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano were involved in the shared hosting of two equal partners, which was the first in history. After previous Winter Games, where sports venues were often built on greenfield sites in less than natural locations, the organizers gave priority to maximizing the use of existing facilities, regardless of the distance between them. Some resorts in the north of the country offered a traditional array of sports – from hockey and figure skating in Milan to the 400-kilometer-distant downhill center in Cortina. Biathletes competed in Anterselva, classic skiers in Val di Fiemme, snowboarders in Livigno, ... The program also featured a new sport – ski mountaineering, which dynamically combines ascents and descents on skis in open mountain terrain. The games returned to mountainous Cortina after 70 years, but cosmopolitan Milan experienced them for the first time. It became the fourth Italian host after Cortina, Rome, and Turin.

The set includes six circulation coins with nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 CZK, which were minted in 2026 and did not enter circulation. Another piece of the puzzle is a special commemorative token from the workshop of medal maker MgA. Martin Dašek. On the obverse side, you will find Milan's San Siro Stadium, which hosted the opening ceremony of the Games, and the amphitheater in Verona, where the Games ended. These two buildings, separated by an incredible 18 centuries, are complemented by the inscription CZECH OLYMPIC TEAM. The reverse side of the token is dedicated to the Czech flag and the year 2026. These elements form an imaginary podium on which the two-tailed Czech lion stands triumphantly.

All this is stored in special themed packaging.
