The Rolling Stones are the fifth legend of British popular music to appear on commemorative coins from The Royal Mint's collector's series.

The Rolling Stones performed their first concert on 12 July 1962, which is incredible 60 years ago. Throughout that time, their rock music has evolved from early blues songs to psychedelic experiments to pop - reflecting social change - love, sex, war, discrimination, racism and drugs. But some things have not changed. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, for example, just do not get older. They will celebrate their 80th birthdays soon, however, they remain icons who personify everything that formes rock - rebellion, independence, emotion and self-confidence. They became famous not only because of their energetic vocal performances, razor-sharp guitar riffs and powerful lyrics, but also thanks to their vivacious charisma and unbridled lifestyle. The Rolling Stones owe their perfect chemistry to the fact that they have been one of the most important and successful musical groups for generations…

The reverse side of the coin, designed by artist Hannah Phizacklea, captures the power of The Rolling Stones performing in front of a live audience. Anniversary years and the band's name complete the composition. The obverse side of the coin bears the attributes of the issuer - i.e. the nominal value of 5 POUNDS (GBP), the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the text “ELIZABETH II D G REG F D“ (Elizabeth II, Queen by the Grace of God, Defender of the Faith) and the year of issue 2022.
