“There is a certain irony in commemorating Freddie Mercury with a coin. He rarely carried cash and almost never had coins in his pocket. Yet this project would have made him very happy, because Freddie loved art in many forms – not just music, but also design and all beautiful objects,” says Peter Freestone – Freddie Mercury’s personal assistant and good friend, who stood by his side until the very end.
