Product description
The Royal Mint's silver collector coin series is dedicated to the greatest figures of British pop music. The fifth musical legend is The Rolling Stones.
Six decades have passed since The Rolling Stones performed their first concert on 12 July 1962. Their rock music has undergone a remarkable evolution - from early blues songs to psychedelic experiments to pop. Inspite of the fact it has been influenced by changing trends, it has always retained a distinctive power and unmistakable style. Reflecting the social changes of the second half of the 20th century, the group's songs had a huge impact on popular culture and became a symbol - the essence of the rock movement. The lion's share of the credit goes to Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, who simply do not get older. They will celebrate 80th birthday soon, however, they still sell out stadiums all over the world. They have become musical icons thanks to their powerful lyrics, energetic vocal performances and sharp guitar riffs, but their cult status is also due to their unbridled lifestyle and vivacious charisma.
The reverse side of the coin, designed by artist Hannah Phizacklea, captures the power of The Rolling Stones during the concert in front of a live audience. The relief also features the anniversary years and the band's name in red. The obverse side of the coin then belongs to the attributes of the issuer - i.e. the nominal value of 2 POUNDS (GBP), the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the text “ELIZABETH II D G REG F D“ (Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith) and the year of issue 2022.
The coin is stored in an elegant etui.
