Product description

Seventy years - that's how long it has been since Queen Elizabeth II came to the British throne. The island kingdom is celebrating the platinum jubilee of her reign, and The Royal Mint has marked the occasion with a series of themed issues - including this Commonwealth-themed silver coin.

Fifty-six member states, a population of nearly two and a half billion - such is the scale of the Commonwealth of Nations, which was formed on the basis of
a common past with the UK. While the most populous country in the so-called Commonwealth is India, with a population of over one billion, the smallest member is the island nation of Tuvalu, with a population of just ten thousand. The official head of this loose association is Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, who is highly respected by the countries. Under her leadership, they are dedicated to cooperation in the fields of education and development aid, as well as economics and top-level politics. As the position of Commonwealth leader is not hereditary, it is hard to say whether its nations will show the same respect to the Queen's successor...

The Irish artist
P. J. Lynch dedicated the reverse side of the coin to a series of flags that symbolize the Commonwealth. The personal flag of Elizabeth II with the Queen's monogram stands outAmong the flags of the selected states. The Queen's signature, which appears on the coins for the first time, is an additional motif on the reverse side. The obverse side is then dedicated to the attributes of the issuer - i.e. the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the text ELIZABETH II D G REG F D (Elizabeth II, Queen by the Grace of God, Defender of the Faith), the year 2022 and the nominal value of 5 POUNDS (GBP).

The silver coin is stored in an elegant box.
