Product description
Another silver coin from the series inspired by the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, commemorates the power of Mount Doom.
Mount Doom towering one and a half kilometres above the Mordorian plain of Gorgoroth, was created by the first Dark Lord Melkor. He invested the ominous volcano with some of his divine power, therefore, his successor Sauron settled here. The lava that the mountain spewed has always proclaimed world-changing events, and the heat that burned within it allowed Sauron to forge the Ring of Power. Although the magical artifact allowed its owner to dominate all of Middle-earth, Sauron was defeated and the volcano seemed to be extinguished. However, it reawakened a thousand years later, and Sauron returned stronger than ever before. It turned out that the only way to destroy an immortal adversary was to destroy the Ring of Power where it originated - in the fires of Mount Doom...
The reverse of the coin presents a view of the volcanic plains of Mordor with Mount Doom billowing smoke. The relief is patinated, which emphasizes even the smallest details. The obverse side then presents the portrait and name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of issue 2022 and the nominal value of TWO DOLLARS (NZD) - i.e. the attributes of the issuer of the coin, which is the island of Niue. The coin was minted by the team at the New Zealand Mint with official film licence.
An elegant etui is an integral part of the issue.
