Slovak set of eur 2026 - Cultural association in Buenos Aires stand

Set of Slovak circulation coins with the year 2026 commemorates the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Slovak Cultural Association in Buenos Aires.

In the 20th century, Slovaks had many reasons to leave their homeland. The first were adventurers—mainly men seeking excitement and exotic experiences in distant lands, where they gradually assimilated into the local population. The second group consisted of people seeking new jobs and opportunities—while some of them went abroad, earned money, and returned home, others settled abroad and brought their families with them. A third group of Slovak migrants sought refuge abroad from danger or persecution, initially posed by fascism and later by communism. Whatever their reasons, they found themselves in a foreign environment among strangers and unfamiliar customs. Understandably, they sought kindred spirits, and so they began to establish expatriate associations. Initially, Slovaks emigrated to North America, but when immigration restrictions were tightened, they headed south, where booming cities and open land for farming awaited them. Thousands of Slovaks found a home in Buenos Aires, where the Slovak Cultural Association in Argentina was founded in 1926. To this day, it brings together not only local Slovaks and their descendants, but also friends and those interested in Slovak culture. The set includes all current circulating euro coins issued by the National Bank of Slovakia and minted by the Slovak Kremnica Mint in 2026. These include nominal values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 50 cent, as well as 1 and 2 euros, complemented by a colored commemorative token.

The set is packaged in a special blister pack with a cover.
