Product description

The Czech Mint is the supplier of commemorative medals for the Czech Olympic team, but we have also prepared a silver medal for fans, which will serve as a memento of the 2026 Winter Games in Italy.

In previous years, the Winter Games were often criticized for creating new sports facilities in unnatural locations with unsuitable climates, which led to unnecessarily high costs and negative environmental impacts. The two Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo, whose joint hosting in 2026 became the first such partnership in the history of the Games, have therefore decided to take a different, more sustainable direction. Unlike the organizers in Sochi, Russia, Pyeongchang, South Korea, and Beijing, China, the Italians prioritized maximizing the use of existing facilities, regardless of the distance between them. Scattered resorts in the north of the country – in the regions of Lombardy and Veneto and the autonomous provinces of Trento and Bolzano – offered a traditional array of sports, from ice hockey and figure skating in Milan to the downhill center in Cortina, 400 kilometers away. Biathletes competed in Anterselva, classic skiers in Val di Fiemme, snowboarders in Livigno, and curling matches took place at the historic Stadio Olimpico del Ghiaccio, which had already hosted the games in 1956...

The silver coin was designed by medal maker MgA. Martin Dašek. On the obverse side, you will find the San Siro Stadium in Milan, which hosted the opening ceremony of the Games, and the amphitheater in Verona, where the Games ended. These two buildings, separated by an incredible 18 centuries, are supplemented with the inscription ČESKÝ OLYMPIJSKÝ TÝM (Czech Olympic Team). The reverse side of the medal is dedicated to the Czech flag and the year 2026. These elements form an imaginary podium on which the two-tailed Czech lion stands triumphantly.

The issue limit of the medal, which was created with the blessing of the Czech Olympic Committee, is only 500 pieces.
