Silver medal Football World Cup 2026 proof

The Czech national team is headed to the World Cup 2026. To mark the occasion, we have struck a commemorative medal - not for sale - for each member of the team. But we’re also thinking of soccer fans, for whom we’ve prepared a miniature version of this medal made of pure silver.

In the history of the independent Czech Republic, this is only the second time our national team has qualified for the World Cup. The first time was exactly 20 years ago—in 2006—when the Czech team unfortunately was eliminated in the group stage. In 2026, the Czechs advanced to the World Cup through a playoff against Ireland and Denmark. In Group A, they will face host Mexico, South Korea—which reached the round of 16 in the previous World Cup—and the unpredictable South Africa, which defeated a strong Nigerian team in the qualifying group. How will our team fare? We’ll find out from Thursday, June 11, through Sunday, July 19, 2026. For the first time in history, the most-watched soccer event on the planet will be hosted by three countries. The sporting elite will compete at eleven stadiums in the United States, three stadiums in Mexico, and two stadiums in Canada. We can therefore expect a significant time difference…

Medal designer Adam Liška, DiS., dedicated the obverse of the medal to a soccer team, which is waving the Czech flag in the stadium. At the bottom of the obverse side, fragments of the flags of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico are also visible. The reverse side is dominated by the Czech lion with a crown on its head, which looks down upon a soccer ball and the famous landmarks of the three countries.
