Product description
The first mushroom to appear on the Czech Mint's silver coin from the twelve-part mushroom series is the Red Toadstool or commonly known as the Fly Agaric.
The red toadstool can be recognized by its red or bright orange cap dotted with white warts, which are remnants of torn veil. It occurs in all types of forests, but mushroom hunters leave it alone because it is a decoration of nature and moreover it is poisonous. Fatal poisoning is rare, but ingestion can cause severe cramps or loss of consciousness. In the past, it was believed to have narcotic effects and was used to kill flies.
On the reverse side of the coin, which is the work of medal maker Ludmila Kracíková, DiS., you will find a colored depiction of the Fly Agaric. The composition of the reverse side is supplemented with another young fruiting body growing among leaves and ferns. On the obverse side of the coin, which is common to the entire series, you will find inhabitants of the forest undergrowth from the kingdoms of fungi, plants, and animals. Since the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with a foreign license from the island of Niue, they also bear its national emblem, the nominal value of ONE DOLLAR (NZD), and the year of issue 2026 on the obverse side.
All twelve coins from the series entitled Mushrooms can be stored in an elaborate collector's book, which is also in the offer of the Czech Mint.
