Silver coin 1 Oz Motorsport Legends - Emerson Fittipaldi proof

At the Czech Mint, we are very proud to have become the exclusive producer of a collectable series entitled Motorsport Legends, which showcases the greatest figures from the world of Formula 1. The second driver to feature on the one-ounce silver coin is Emerson Fittipaldi.

When we hear “you drive like Fittipaldi”, we think of fast driving. The youngest Formula 1 champion, Emerson Fittipaldi, truly drove like the wind, but always with calm, fluidity, discipline and composure. He won the World Championship twice – in 1972 and 1974 – but never let his ego get the better of him. In an environment where death was an occupational hazard, he instead brought a completely different mindset. He relied not only on instinct, but also on planning. He combined wild courage with cool calculation and proved that speed need not come at the price of reckless driving. Unlike many of his rivals, who revelled in risk-taking and chaos, he never drove simply to shock. He raced to reach the finish line in one piece. This approach, which straddled the line between old-school drivers and modern Formula 1 drivers, turned the smiling Brazilian with his distinctive sideburns into a living legend…

The reverse side of the commemorative coin, the work of the medallist Mgr. Petr Horák, features a faithful portrait of the racing driver from the height of his glory. The composition is completed by a laurel wreath and the text EMERSON FITTIPALDI, WORLD CHAMPION, 1972, 1974. As the coins from the Czech Mint are issued with the licence from a foreign issuer, the Solomon Islands, their obverse side bears the essential  attributes, which means a portrait of King Charles III, the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (SBD) and the year of issue 2026.

The coin is set in an illustrated blister pack. This is stored in a folder, which also contains a certificate of authenticity and a set of commemorative postcards dedicated to other Formula 1 legends.
