Wonder Woman is quite possibly the most famous and beloved comic book heroine of all time. This silver commemorative coin pays tribute to the founding member of the Justice League as she celebrates her incredible 80th birthday.

As beautiful as Aphrodite, as wise as Athena, as swift as Hermes and as strong as Heracles - that's Diana, Princess of the Amazons. A girl who grew up on the paradise island of Themyscira, cut off from modern civilisation, unaware of the outside world, yet destined to change it. She left her utopian homeland and, as Wonder Woman, entered a war-torn society to fight for peace and equality. She uses ancient weapons endowed with divine power as well as infinite compassion and a sense of justice.

The reverse side of the coin is dominated by Wonder Woman in combat pose. Colouring technology has given her vivid comic book colours. The surrounding relief features additional depictions of the Amazon princess, reminding us of how she has changed since 1941, when she first appeared in the pages of comics. The composition of the reverse side is supplemented with the comic's anniversary logo. The obverse side then bears the necessary attributes of the issuer, which is the island of Niue - i.e. the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of TWO DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2021. The officially licensed coin is the work of the New Zealand Mint.
