Product description

Another silver coin from the series inspired by the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, is a reminder of the beauty of the elven Rivendell.

Thousands of years ago, after losing a battle with Sauron who conquered their homeland,
the elves were forced to retreat north. They found a virgin valley in the Misty Mountains where, under the leadership of Elrond Half-elven, they built a new refuge. Because it grew on the edge of a steep ravine, they named it Imladris - Rivendell. Connected to the rest of the world only by a narrow stone bridge, Elrond's house became a safe haven for the elves and their friends, but remained hidden from the eyes of the uninitiated. Thanks to magic, time passed more slowly here than in the outside world. Anyone lucky enough to visit Rivendell felt at home there. Aragorn, heir to the throne of Gondor, spent his youth here, and Bilbo Baggins, the hobbit, spent his old age here. Many adventurous quests have drawn strength from this place of healing and contemplation - Hogwarts hosted Thorin Pavese's dwarven retinue, for example, and it was here that the Fellowship of the Ring was founded...

The reverse side of the coin is dominated by the
elven houses, which are ornate, rugged, airy and full of light. The relief is patinated, making even the smallest details stand out. The obverse side presents the portrait and name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of issue 2022 and the nominal value of TWO DOLLARS (NZD) - the attributes of the issuer of the coin, which is the island of Niue. The coin was minted with official film licence by the team at the New Zealand Mint.

An
elegant etui is an integral part of the issue.
