Product description
Another silver coin from the series inspired by the Lord of the Rings film trilogy recalls the Battle of Helm's Deep.
The noble kingdom of Rohan is home to the Norse nation of Rohir, the Lords of the Horse. The low-lying land is made up primarily of meadows and pastures, but is surrounded by the White Mountains to the southwest. Men, women and children take refuge to the mountains to the Hornburg, the greatest fortress of the kingdom in times of danger. It stands on a promontory surrounded by a ravine known as Helm's Deep. Three sides of the ravine are bounded by rocks, and the fourth side is spanned by a twenty-foot high wall. In the centre of the fortification, which is formed by two other rings of walls, is a palace with a tower, on top of which is a megaphone that gave the fort its name. The defenders of Hornburg have never been defeated - while King Helm resisted the raids of the fierce Vrchas, King Théoden defeated an army of ten thousand Saruman's scurvy here. But if the fortress was penetrated, it would be retreated to the intricate labyrinth of the Glittering Caves, where secret paths lead to the surrounding mountains...
The reverse side of the coin, which presents a view of the fortress from the north, is dominated by an impregnable gate and a watchtower. The relief is patinated, which emphasizes even the smallest details. The obverse side then presents the portrait and name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of issue 2022 and the nominal value of TWO DOLLARS (NZD) - the attributes of the issuer of the coin, which is the island of Niue. The coin was minted by the team at the New Zealand Mint thanks to the official film licence.
An elegant etui is an integral part of the issue.
