Czech Lion 2019

Czech Lion investment coins were introduced by the Czech Mint for the first time in 2017 and soon joined the famous world counterparts with great success. Among other things they became popular due to sophisticated patriotic relief, which has been redesigned over years. Ounce silver coin minted in an unusual quality „reverse proof“ became one of them in 2019.

Coins are usually minted in one of two versions - standard or proof. You know the quality
standard for example from circulation coins that clink in your wallets - their surface is completely matt. In the case of coins minted in quality proof, only the relief is matt and the rest of the coin - ie the coin surface - is mirror-gloss. However, there is another variant called „reverse proof“. This is, as its name suggests, the opposite of quality proof - the surface of such coins is matt and a raised relief is characterized by the mirror shine.

The reverse side of the coin bears an untraditionally realistic depiction of a
two-tailed Czech lion guarding the St Wenceslas crown and the St Wenceslas flaming eagle. The obverse side presents the name and the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of the issue 2019 - ie essential elements of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to mint its own coins. You can see lime branches on both sides. The coin was made by Asamat Baltaev, DiS., who was inspired by the original drawing of Jaroslav Bejvl.

The schedule of issuance of a limited edition counts
1000 pieces. Investment coins were stored in a special numbered packaging.
