Major global banks and mints boast their own investment coins. As their name suggests, they appeal primarily to investors—rather than collectors and numismatists—who know that a well-thought-out portfolio cannot do without precious metals—such as pure silver in the form of three one-troy-ounce coins.

Global issuers choose easily recognizable national motifs for their investment coins. The theme of the Austrian “Wiener Philharmoniker” coin is one of the most renowned symphony orchestras in the world of classical music. The Canadian “Maple Leaf” bears the official national emblem in the form of a maple leaf. And the Czech Republic? It does not yet have its own investment coins, so the Czech Mint created the “Czech Lion”—its own investment coin issued under an international license independently of the Czech National Bank, featuring the national symbol in the form of a two-tailed beast.

The troy ounce got its name not from the mythical city of Troy, known from ancient Greek legends, but from the French city of Troyes [trua]. This city on the Seine has been a center of trade since time immemorial, and precious metals—gold and silver—were traded here in units corresponding to the troy ounce as early as the Middle Ages. It did not take long for this standardized weight to spread throughout the world—for example, English merchants were already active in Troyes as early as the 9th century AD. One troy ounce, which can be converted to 31.1034768 grams, remains a globally valid unit of measurement in the field of international trade in precious metals.

The investment set consists of three one-ounce silver coins produced by the Austrian mint Münze Österreich (Vienna Philharmonic – face value 1.5 EUR), the Canadian mint Royal Canadian Mint (Maple Leaf – nominal value 5 CAD), and the Czech Mint (Czech Lion – nominal value 2 NZD – because the Czech Mint’s coins are issued under a foreign license from the island of Niue, their obverse side bears the necessary attributes of this issuer, namely a portrait of King Charles III and the nominal value stated in New Zealand dollars).

Invest smartly and in style! Our selection also includes other varieties of investment coins made of silver and gold. This allows you to easily control how much of your funds you invest in precious metals.
