Platinum one-ounce coin UNESCO - Kutná Hora - historical centre proof

The collector-investment series of platinum coins of the Czech Mint pays tribute to Czech monuments inscribed on UNESCO World Heritage List. The eleventh issue is dedicated to the historic center of Kutná Hora.

Kutná Hora situated in Central Bohemia used to be a privileged royal town and treasury of the whole country. It was rich in silver ore and famous for minting coins. The local district provided an incredible one third of the silver production of the whole of Europe at the end of the 13th century! The late Gothic Church of St. Barbara - the patron saint of miners – presents not only the extraordinary wealth, but also the great piety of the locals to this day. The Church of the Assumption of Our Lady and Saint John the Baptist, which was rebuilt in the Baroque Gothic style, together with the Baroque complex of the Jesuit college belong to other exceptional ecclesiastical monuments. The heart of the city with a number of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque buildings is dominated by the Italian Court. This castle served as a royal palace and a mint - King Wenceslas II. had relocated all the mints of the kingdom here so that he could better supervise whether anyone was robbing him…

The medal maker Lenka Nebeská, DiS., placed a view of the Church of St. Barbara and the nearby Jesuit college on the reverse side of the coin. The additional motif of two skulls then refers to the famous Sedlec Ossuary, the decoration of which consists of the remains of forty thousand victims of the plague and Hussite wars. The composition is lined with astragal and the inscription KUTNÁ HORA - HISTORICAL CENTER. The obverse side of the coin, which is common to the entire platinum series, is dominated by a collage composed of architectural elements of various Czech buildings inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued under license by a foreign issuer, the island of Niue, the obverse still bears its necessary elements - a nominal value of 50 DOLLARS (NZD), the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. and the year of issue 2020.

A special certificate of authenticity builds an integral part of the coin.
