The Royal Mint’s collectible series of commemorative coins is dedicated to the greatest phenomena of the British music scene. Another musical legend is the rock band Pink Floyd.

Few bands have managed to combine artistic depth with such massive commercial success as Pink Floyd. The “Floyd” gained attention with their original take on psychedelic rock and gradually became key innovators of progressive rock. Thanks to philosophically themed lyrics, classic rock melodies, sonic experiments, spectacular live performances, and an emphasis on the visual aspects of their albums, they ranked among the most distinctive, popular, and influential musical groups of all time at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s. Their eighth studio album, released in 1973, was a concept album titled The Dark Side of the Moon. This somber reflection on modern society focusing on money, greed, war, loneliness, fear, and the relentless passage of time achieved phenomenal success: it sold 50 million copies worldwide, making it the second-best-selling album in music history…

Artist Henry Gray conceived the coin as a relief reconstruction of the cover of the album *The Dark Side of the Moon*. The reverse side is thus dominated by an optical prism, which breaks down the light passing through it into its individual color components. The obverse side of the coin features the issuer’s attributes, which means the nominal value of 5 POUNDS (GBP), a portrait of King Charles III, the inscription “CHARLES III D G REX F D” (Charles III, by the Grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith), and the year of issue, 2026.

An integral part of the coin is special packaging filled with photographs and interesting facts (in English).
