The Czech Mint has been a proud partner of the Jizerská 50 since 2020. Since then, we have been minting commemorative medals for all participants in this legendary ski race.

The reverse side of these medals changes regularly. In 2020, it was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of a mountaineering tragedy and commemorated a group of fifteen men who died in an avalanche on Peru's Huascarán mountain. It is in their honor that the Jizerská 50 bears the subtitle "Memorial of Expedition Peru 1970."

Starting with the next race, the reverse side of the medal presents a different encouraging motto each year, which is chosen with the help of the athletes themselves and their fans. In 2021, it was "Heart in the white trail," in 2022 "Everyone is a winner at the finish line," in 2023 "I'm not running alone," in 2024 "Sport, tradition, art," and in 2025 "Loyalty."

For 2026, the medal carries the following message: "The trail that connects the world"

This lofty motto expresses that cross-country skiing is not just a sport, but also a way for people to meet and make friends. A ski trail that can lead through mountains, forests, and even across national borders connects everyone who shares a passion for movement and snow – regardless of nationality, gender, or age. Last but not least, it also connects people with nature.

While the first five commemorative medals for competitors were created by Jiří Dostál, the sixth and seventh were designed by Vojtěch Dostál, who follows in his father's footsteps.
