Product description

The Czech Mint presents its own pure investment bar. It is minted from one troy ounce of silver with the highest possible fineness of 999.9/1000.

Silver has been a part of human history for millennia. Its lustre captivated the inhabitants of the Near East as early as the 4th millennium BC. At that time, the precious metal was used primarily for the production of jewellery and other ornaments, but it was not long before it became an important medium of exchange and store of value. Whilst in ancient Mesopotamia silver was used as a weighed metal – in the form of various ingots – the ancient Greeks minted coins from it. Silver coinage continued into the Middle Ages, a period in which the Czech town of Kutná Hora played a pivotal role. The local deposits, in fact, accounted for a full third of Europe’s silver production. When Spanish colonisers subsequently discovered the New World, Europe was flooded with American silver. The Spanish coins minted from this silver circulated throughout the world and became a true global currency. In the 19th century, however, silver’s days as a medium of exchange began to wane. It gradually lost its central role in monetary systems, where it was replaced by gold, but with the advent of modern technologies it became a key industrial raw material. Partly because of this, silver is now an increasingly popular investment metal. Just like their predecessors in Athens and Babylon, today’s investors preserve their wealth in the form of silver coins or ingots…

The front of the ingot features a decorative motif, reminiscent of a flower or a mandala. Set in the centre is the English logo of the Czech Mint, which can also be found on the reverse side of the bar. Here, it is accompanied by information on the weight and fineness of the silver used.

The Czech Mint’s silver bar is an affordable alternative to products from global refineries, which often face disruptions in their supply chains.
