Product description
In tribute to 300th anniversary of the birth of Maria Theresa, dedicated to her enlightened decisions, the miniset is being closed. The cycle of gold quarter-ounce coins is crowned by the reform, which has a lot in common with the Czech Mint - monetary one.
There have been many changes under the reign of Maria Theresa, whose aim was to boost the economy stagnation. And since the main role in the economy was played by money, it was necessary to reform the monetary system too. The new Theresian system of integrated centralized currency was based on the Colognes silver hryvnia weighing 233.8 g. Later, 10 thalers were coined from it, whose value equaled 20 guldens, while 1 gulden was further divided into 60 kreutzers. Maria Theresa let also mint the coins made of copper, which did not have, unlike gold and silver mintages, the value of precious metals. Thus the first credit money was born, which was considered as one step to the first paper banknotes, that emerged in 1762. They were called “Bancozettel” according to the austrian inscription: "Wiener-Stadt-Banco-Zettel”. Although the credit money initially aroused suspicion among the population, which was also supported by the state bankrupt in 1811, nowadays we can not imagine a life without it!
The author of the four-part reforms miniseries is a young medal maker Roman Shamilyan, DiS.. He has dedicated the reverse side of the final mintage to several piles of neatly organized coins and representative banknotes. The dominant feature is created by the illustration of Theresian Thaler and five-gulden “Bancozettel” together with an inscription Reforms of Maria Theresa – monetary. The obverse side bears the decorative ornaments and the attributes of the Pacific island called Niue, which enables the Czech Mint to produce their own commemorative coins - it includes the name and profile of Queen Elizabeth II., the year of issue 2017 and the nominal value of 10 DOLLARS (NZD).
Complete your collection and keep it in a luxurious box, which you will find in the menu of the Czech Mint.
