Product description
Collector's series of gold coins called "Legends of Czechoslovak hockey", which represents another phenomenal hockey player and centre Pavel Patera, was issued by the Czech Mint on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Nagano Olympics.
The way for gold began in Nagano on February 13, 1998, when the Czechs scored 3-0 over Finns and ended on February 22, 1998, when ours scored 1-0 over Russians. In both cases the attacker Pavel Patera played the key role and scored our first goal, won the winning goal in the semifinals and in the final. He earned the most points in Nagano and became the most productive Czech player. But “Patýs“ was not the star of a single tournament. He managed to win six World Championship medals, four of which were gold. He became the champion of the Czech, Russian and Swedish leagues and rightfully ranked among the most successful czech ice hockey players in history. His career was fantastic, today he plays hockey just for fun. He is a coach of the hockey club Kladno Knights, where he met Jaromir Jagr, another "gold boy" from Nagano.
The reverse side of the coin, which is the work of the expert medal maker Mgr. Petr Horák, presents a faithful portrait of the forward, supplemented by his number 10 and an inscription: PAVEL PATERA - NAGANO 1998 - WORLD MASTER 1996 1999 2000 2001 – MEMBER OF THE CZECH HOCKEY´S HALL OF FAME. The coins of the Czech Mint are based on the license of a foreign issuer, which is the state of Samoa, and therefore their obverse side contains its necessary attributes, which are the national emblem, the name and the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 25 DOLLARS (WST) and the year of the issue 2018.
A complete collection of fourteen coins with our hockey legends can be stored in a stylish etui in the form of a puck, which you can also find in the offer of the Czech Mint.
