The fourth and final gold coin of the Czech Mint from the "Revolutionary Eights" miniseries commemorates the 100th anniversary of the events of 1918, when we emerged from the harsh Austro-Hungarian Empire and established the Czechoslovak Republic.

The year 1620 is considered to be the turning point of Czech history. The consequences of the Battle of the White Mountain, when the Germanization began, were postponed until nearly 300 years later. However, the independent  state was not the result of a century struggle. Even Tomas Garrigue Masaryk originally did not think of it. The ideas of independence were the consequence of increasing tensions between people living in Austria-Hungary at the beginning of the 20th century. The main issue was the coexistence of the Czechs and Germans in the Czech lands, which the Viennese government began to favour. Czech politicians vainly tried to promote the federal arrangement of the monarchy and the First World War broke out. The conflict of unimaginable proportions has brought about the mobilization and suppression of human rights. The interior issues of the monarchy pushed aside. The war was long-lived the deep economic crisis, the zero course of battle, or the huge number of casualties did not make the Habsburgs negotiate peace. The Czechs and Slovaks were running out of patience and have decided to take matters into their own hands.

They declared struggle to Austria-Hungary and their actions on the political and battlefields convinced the world powers that they deserved independence. The Czechoslovaks refused when the leaders of the collapsing monarchy finally offered their nations autonomy within the federation at the end of the war. They had complete and unconditional freedom in their reach ...

A medal maker MgA. Josef Oplistil continues the style created whith previous issues of the miniseries. Events of individual years are expressed through the transformation of the two-tailed Czech lion. Our state symbol smashed with its massive paws and with a linden branch like a wedge the Habsburg eagle in 1918. The coins of the Czech Mint are based on the license of a foreign issuer, which is the state of Samoa, and their obverse side therefore bears its necessary attributes, which are the national emblem, the portrait and the name of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 25 DOLLARS (WST) and the year of the issue 2018. The composition of the obverse side is complemented by ribbon with the motto "THE TRUTH WINS" hanged on the lime branche.
