The third gold medal of the Czech Mint weighing two troy ounces pays tribute to Jan Saudek. Its main motif is a photograph entitled Dancer.

Jan Saudek's work is a controversial and provocative celebration of humanity. According to many critics, it cross the line between art, kitsch and pornography. It is sensual, animalistic, erotic, even perverse, and its most frequent subject is feminity. What does the world-famous photographer want to say with his work? “With photography I want to express my admiration for people. That there are sometimes men, it does not matter, but for me the highlight is the women to whom we owe our lives - there is no one who was not born of a woman. A woman is something that cannot be described at all. She is close to perfection. She is beautiful. She is proof of the existence of God. She is admired, reviled, photographed and painted. She is something that all artists try to capture, but few succeed. I have never photographed a woman in a way that makes her look ridiculous, that she would not be admirable," says Jan Saudek. The artist considers the female body, which can take on all shapes and sizes, to be a pleasure machine. The author of the Jan Saudek medal for the third time is Vojtěch Dostál, DiS. The obverse side is an embossed reconstruction of the photograph of the Dancer. The reverse side presents the signature of Jan Saudek in an unusual reverse proof quality.

The original artwork from Jan Saudek's studio is an integral part of the gold medal, which is issued in an edition of only 100 numbered pieces.
