Gold coin Old pictures postcards - Litomyšl proof
Product description
Litomyšl is the next town to receive a gold mini coin of the Czech Mint set in a replica of a historical postcard.
The castle hill in Litomyšl, which represents a unique complex of valuable buildings, courtyards, gardens and parks, is the centre of Czech culture. The Renaissance chateau, built by the Pernštejn family in the second half of the 16th century as a representative residence, is a rare example of an Italian arcaded palace adapted to the conditions of the Transalpine countries. It is distinguished by its unique sgraffito decoration of the facades and gables and has retained its uniqueness despite many transformations in the style of new artistic movements. An integral part of the complex are preserved outbuildings and the garden, which has been transformed into an English park, as well as the historic castle theatre with its working machinery and set of backdrops, which is one of the last in Europe. However, the castle where the composer Bedřich Smetana was born is not the only attraction of the East Bohemian town. Among other sights, the magnificent New Town Hall with its late Baroque façade stands out... The rich architecture of Litomyšl can be found on a lithograph postcard from the late 19th century, which served as a template for the coin packaging.
The medal maker Lucie Kroupová, DiS., dedicated the reverse side of the coin to a view of the New Town Hall. The composition is supplemented withthe inscription LITOMYŠL. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the foreign licence of the island of Niue, they bear the name and portrait of King Charles III on the obverse side , the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2025.
The original issue represents an affordable collector's piece that will delight numismatists, philocartographers, tourists and patriots of Litomyšl.
