New seven wonders of the world

The third issue of the Czech Mint's cycle dedicated to the New Seven Wonders of the World, commemorating the Incan seat of Machu Picchu. This special product will be especially appreciated by investors. The whole package contains one troy ounce of gold, however, divided into ten identical coins. When you want to monetize only part of your investment, you can break the package and sell it in pieces…

When the European conquistadors arrived in South America, they brought with them war, disease and death. Local wealth plundered and culture trampled into the ground. But some places escaped their rampage, providing testimony to the incredible sophistication of the Native Americans. The breathtaking city of Machu Picchu, the jewel of the Inca Empire, rose in the inaccessible Peruvian Andes - 2,430 metres above sea level, surrounded on three sides by a steep escarpment and the sacred Urubamba River. Its real name has not survived, so it is called according to the "Old Mountain" that towers above it. However, the masonry, made of perfectly worked and stacked stones, has survived. Although no bonding agent was used in its construction, not even a sheet of paper can fit between the blocks. Some of the granite blocks weigh over 50 tons and no one knows how the ancient Incas, who did not know the wheel, handled them. The three thousand steps leading into the city, the temple dedicated to the sun god, the ritual stones and the homes of the elite, as well as the dwellings of ordinary peasants can still be admired. Although Machu Picchu was overlooked by the conquistadors, the inhabitants abandoned it for unknown reasons. It was swallowed up by vegetation and was unknown for hundreds of years. In 1911, however, it was rediscovered and since then it has fascinated us …

The reverse side of each coin, which is the work of the medal maker Ludmila Kracíková, DiS., presents an actual image of the mountain town supplemented with an inscription of the MACHU PICCHU. On the obverse side, which is common to the entire series, all the new seven wonders of the world appear - the Brazilian statue of Christ the Saviour, the Jordanian rock city of Petra, the Mayan city of Chichén Itzá in Mexico, the Roman Colosseum, the Indian monument of the Taj Mahal, the Inca seat of Machu Picchu in Peru and the Great Wall of China. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the foreign license of the island of Niue, their obverse sides also bear its national emblem, the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2024.

Ten identical coins are sealed in special packaging. This is perforated so that it can be conveniently divided into ten parts if necessary.

Note: The packaging is covered with foil to prevent damage during transport.
