Product description
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland became a member of the European Union in 1973. However, it disassociated itself from this community in 2020 and the commemorative coin of the Royal Mint commemorates the so-called Brexit.
Brexit has divided the island kingdom - one half of the population expects a new golden age from it, the other is afraid of a decade of failed prosperity and the loss of millions of jobs. Therefore, the date of the withdrawal from the European Union has been constantly postponed… The issue date of thematic commemorative coins has also been postponed several times, which brought about considerable difficulties for the Royal Mint. By the time it was decided that the final day of Brexit would be January 31, 2020, the coin makers had already issued thousands of coins with the issue date of October 31, 2019, which then had to be melted down…
The simple reverse side of the coin presents the English inscription “PEACE, PROSPERITY AND FRIENDSHIP WITH ALL NATIONS“, supplemented with the correct date of Brexit on January,31 2020. The obverse side of the coin belongs to the necessary attributes of the issuer – i.e. a nominal value of 50 PENCE (GBP), the profile of Queen Elizabeth II. and the text "ELIZABETH II D G REG F D" (Elizabeth II, the Queen by the Grace of God, Defender of the Faith).
The commemorative coin is minted in the quality brilliant.
