A nice souvenir, an unusual gift or local Pardubice tender.

Pardubice is another Czech town that has its own local tender and an original souvenir.
The statutory town of Pardubice is situated in the middle of the Pardubice valley at the confluence of rivers Labe and Chrudimka in beautiful nature. The town is known for its picturesque historical centre; most of the old buildings and monuments were built or reconstructed by members of the Pernštejn family who chose Pardubice as their residence in Bohemia. The Pernštejns also left another mark in the region – numerous ponds. Pardubice is a centre of many sports events including for example the Grand Pardubice Steeplechase. The town has also become a cradle of Czech aviation when Jan Kašpar made history by flying the first long-distance flight towards Prague in 1911. Local traditional products include in particular Pardubice gingerbread and beer.

The obverse side of the local ducat features Fortuna Volubilis – Capricious Fortune and the denomination of the ducat 40 Pardubice fortunes. Capricious Fortune is a fresco exhibited in the Pardubice castle, woven by many mysteries, the painting of which was ordered by Vojtěch (Adalbert) of Pernštejn.
The graceful figure of a naked woman standing on a globe symbolises the uncertainty of destiny which gives and takes away, too. It is one of the most impressive paintings on the walls of the castle.
The reverse side is decorated with the town’s emblem, and the text in circumscription reads Statutární město Pardubice (The statutory town of Pardubice).
