Product description
Many experts think we are living in an era that will see the end of physical currency. Some countries are already heading towards this scenario, and there is a real possibility that one day we too will have only a credit card in our wallet or simply make do with a mobile phone. Isn't that a pity? After all, Czech money ranks among the world's best. The proof is the fifty-crown which is the most beautiful circulating coin on the planet!
The Czech currency was issued simultaneously with the independent Czech Republic in 1993 and immediately attracted the attention of the numismatic public. In the same year, the Czech coin with the highest nominal value - the fifty-crown - won the prestigious award of Krause Publications for the most beautiful circulating coin in the world. Its charm lies in the combination of the elaborate patriotic relief from the workshop of the academic sculptor Ladislav Kozák, who is unfortunately no longer with us, and the original bi-metallic design. The main material of the coin is magnetic steel - plated and electroplated with copper on the intermediate ring, and plated with a 75:25 copper-zinc alloy in the centre.
The obverse side of the coin is dominated by the Czech heraldic emblem in the form of a two-tailed lion. The inscription bears the nominal value of 50 CZK and the issuer CZECH REPUBLIC. The reverse side belongs to the capital city of Prague. The grouping of unique historical buildings - the Charles Bridge, the National Theatre, St. Nicholas Church and Prague Castle with St. Vitus Cathedral - is surrounded by the Latin saying PRAGA MATER URBIUM (Prague, Mother of Cities).
The uncirculated coin is stored in a special packaging that tells its story (in English).
