Product description
Silver coin of the British mint The Royal Mint commemorates the coronation of King Charles III.
The firstborn son of Elizabeth II has been fulfilling his duties as new British King Charles III since the Queen breathed her last on 8 September 2022. However, the coronation ceremony is yet to take place. It will be the first time in 70 years that the UK has seen such an event. The ceremony will begin on 6 May 2023, when a procession with the King and his wife Camilla will make its way from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey, where the royal couple will be anointed with holy oil. The Archbishop of Canterbury, who is the supreme spiritual leader of the Church of England, will give Charles III the royal apple, sceptre, coronation ring and St. Edward's crown. During the ceremony, however, the crown of the British Empire will still rest on the monarch's head. The procession will then return to the royal residence, from the balcony of which the noble family will greet the people. However, the celebrations will continue…
The reverse side of the coin, designed by artist John Bergdahl, presents the shield of the Royal Arms surrounded by the flowers of the four nations of the United Kingdom. The inscription on the reverse side says THE CORONATION OF KING CHARLES III, 6 MAY 2023. The obverse side is then dedicated to the crowned portrait of Charles III, which is the work of sculptor Martin Jennings. The monarch's profile is surrounded by the text CHARLES III D G REX F D (Charles III, by the grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith), the nominal value of 5 POUNDS (GBP) and the year of issue 2023.
The form of the silver coin, which is placed in an elegant case, has been personally approved by the new British King.
