Product description
A newborn baby always attracts attention and their close relatives compete with each other who give it a better gift. The Czech Mint prepared silver commemorative medals, which means thalers to birth of a child for everybody who seeks original, but traditional gift.
Our ancestors donated money to newborn children for happiness. Babies of wealthy nobles and poor peasants usually got from their godfathers or godmothers good luck charm in the form of a precious metal coin. The coins were placed in the cradle, and so the verbal expressions "newborn gift" (or into swaddle blanket) and "into baby duvet" are still used today. The popularity of these coins began in the Czech lands in the Renaissance era and ended only in the 19th century when the church began to issue its own baptismal medals. The state began to publish the so-called St. Wenceslas ducats that became quickly popular for this purpose in the 20th century after the foundation of the Czechoslovak Republic. The Czech Mint continues in the 21st century.
The talented medal maker Lenka Nebeská, DiS. became the author of the art theme of the silver thaler for the year 2020. On the obverse side there is the sleeping baby in parents arms together with the inscription THALER TO BIRTH OF CHILD 2020. The reverse side then belongs to the traditional toy - a rocking horse.
Attractive gift wrapping in the form of a pop-up booklet contains, besides the thaler, a space for inscribing birthday details, personal dedication and inserting a baby picture.
