Product description
The Slovak silver euro coin was minted in quality proof on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Viktor Kubal.
When Viktor Kubal drew ink on a film strip at the age of twelve, he probably had no idea that he would become the founder of Slovak animated film. He contributed to the first Slovak animated film entitled The Well of Love in 1943, and over the course of his career, he produced over 400 films - first several-minute monothematic films, then animated series, and eventually working his way up to feature films such as Jurko the Bandit. For example, his fairy-tale evening film Puf and Muf shone on television screens. He was not only the author of the artwork, but also a screenwriter, director, cameraman and editor. His films, which are characterised by their drawing, sense of humour and thoughtful dramatisation, have won numerous domestic and international awards.
The reverse side of the coin is dominated by a portrait of the filmmaker, supplemented with his name and the life years - VIKTOR KUBAL, 1923-1977. The additional motif on the reverse side is the figures of Puf and Muf. The obverse side then presents the figure of the bandit Jurko, under whose feet the film strip unfolds. The composition of the obverse side is completed by the inscription SLOVENSKO, the national emblem, the nominal value of 10 EUR and the year of issue 2023. All this is the work of the medal maker Karol Ličko.
The coin was minted by the Slovak Mint Mincovňa Kremnica and issued by the National Bank of Slovakia.
