The Czech Mint's commemorative medal made of pure silver commemorates Milan Lasica, who was a legend of Slovak culture.
Milan Lasica was famous for his intelligent humour and play with words. His unique wit, insight and satire have been with many generations. He formed a cult contrasting duo with Július Satinský in the theatre and on television screens. The audience knew him as a cheerful man who could entertain them, but also encourage and support them in difficult moments - for example, during the times of the normalisation. "Without humour, things like that are impossible to withstand or very difficult to withstand. If one does not have humour in such situations, he or she succumbs to panic. When he or she has humour, he or she stays on top of things," he said. In private, however, he was serious, brooding, taciturn, melancholic and often sad. He loved music, was the author of more than a hundred song lyrics, and his dream was to be a bar pianist. In the end, he died doing what he loved most - right on stage and with a song in his heart. He took his last bow and exhaled during thunderous applause after the concert performance...
Slovak medal maker Mgr. Art. Miroslav Hric, Art.D., dedicated the obverse side of the medal to a faithful portrait of the charismatic Milan Lasica. Silhouettes of the heads of Milan Lasica and Július Satinský connected by a common hat can be found on both the obverse and reverse side of the medal. The texts on the medal include the name MILAN LASICA, the decorative initials of the L&S actors and the Milan Lasica quote "CESTU SME MALI SPOLOČNÚ, ALE NOHY MA BOLIA VLASTNÉ" (translated as "WE SHARED THE ROAD, BUT MY OWN FEET HURT").
Do not overlook the other two silver medals from the free trilogy.
