Every year thousands of people on Christmas Eve symbolically join with the shepherds of Bethlehem in celebration of the birth of God's son Jesus Christ. He came into the world as a harbinger of truth and love, which are the most beautiful and most precious Christmas gifts. The author of the series is a talented artist Maria Filová. With respect and sensitivity she graced the sterling silver face with the motif of baby Jesus lying in a manger, over which dwells an angel on each side. Above his head shines the Star of Bethlehem with the crib bearing Latin inscriptions ‘Gloria in excelsis Deo’ and in Czech ‘Glory to God in the highest’. The reverse is identical to all of the medals in the Bethlehem series and is decorated with the well-known fourteen-pointed silver star, which is featured in original marble plate indicating the place where the Virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus. The design is completed with the words ‘Star of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem’.
