Guardians of czech mountains
Marzebilla - the ruler of the Ore Mountains - is the last good spirit to appear on the Czech Mint's silver medal from the Guardians of czech mountains series.
Marzebilla, who lives in the Ore Mountains, is a whimsical fairy. Sometimes she is kind, sometimes spiteful and can be even hostile. While she will show a good man places where berries grow in abundance, she will lead a bad man to the deepest swamp. Although she treats everyone as he or she deserves, her character shows a bitterness towards people for which she has good reason... The daughter of the lord of the castle, Marzebello, had a beautiful face and a good heart. Her father wished her to go to a convent where she would be brought up and educated, but she decided otherwise - she fell in love with the Knight of the Rising Sun. Her father blessed them and arranged a wedding ceremony. However, the great day was disturbed by a marauding knight from Husberg who wanted to marry the beautiful girl himself. The two suitors drew their swords and a fierce battle ensued, in which the Knight of the Rising Sun was victorious. Believing his rival to be dead, he turned to his bride-to-be, but this was a mistake. The Knight of Husberg stabbed him viciously in the back. The devastated bride cast a terrible curse on her lover's murderer and fled into the woods. She took with her only an iron glove as a souvenir. The robber knight died within a year, his mansion disappeared, and people have been encountering the misty creature in the forests of the Erzgebirge ever since. Sometimes it's a girl, sometimes an old woman, but always wearing an iron glove...
Academic sculptor Majka Wichnerová has given the series an almost fairytale atmosphere. The obverse side of the commemorative medal presents a view of the austere Erzgebirge landscape, which is a rich reservoir of water. The composition is supplemented with the inscription STRÁŽCI ČESKÝCH HOR – MARZEBILLA – KRUŠNÉ HORY. The reverse side is dominated by a depiction of Marzebilla in the form of an unhappy girl holding her heart. On her hand there is the necessary knight's glove.
The collector's series featured a total of six mountain spirits from across the country.
