Product description

“Injustice in one part of the Globe endangers justice worldwide.“
Martin Luther King

Doctor of law, i.e. JUDr is an academic title used in the Czech Republic, awarded to graduates of law schools who successfully completed the exacting doctoral studies. The abbreviation JUDr stands for three words in Latin: JURIS UTRIUSQUE DOCTOR , or doctor of both laws.

This abbreviation also hides the firm decision to honour the law and ethics of the chosen profession impartially and conscientiously, to protect human rights and to abide by constitutional and other laws. If you wish to tell the fresh doctor of law that you highly appreciate his choice and that you wish him a lot of luck and success, do so with a beautiful commemorative silver medal with dedication. It will be a nice token of your affection and support as well as a valuable addition to any art collection.

The beautiful design for the silver academic title medal from Czech Mint is the work of gifted young creative artist Irena Hradecká. On the obverse, she placed the Greek goddess of justice Dike with a scarf over her eyes and the scales in her hand as a symbol of the legal profession. In the background of the obverse we can see the incscription JURIS UNIVERSI DOCTOR. On the reverse there is a space for your personal dedication.

Dike was the daughter of Zeus and goddess Themis. Whenever Zeus gave judgments, Dike and Themis, who was responsible for law and order, stood by his side. Their presence at Zeus’ side as protectors of justice symbolized a significant fact – that justice and law and order are not identical terms. The Romans linked both these meanings in one goddess of justice and law whose name is Justitia.

Serving people is a difficult task and future judges, advocates, public prosecutors as well as notaries deserve a big thank you for it. Nothing will express it better and more gracefully than the silver medal with personal dedication.
