Crystal Coin
The unique silver coins with Czech crystal "Crystal Coin" are the result of a combination of traditional crafts from Jablonec nad Nisou - the Czech Mint and Preciosa glassmaking. The Guardian Angel has become a popular motif of these gift coins, and due to the great demand, it is being reissued for the second time with a crystal stone reminiscent of the legend of the Bethlehem light.
The most sacred places for Christians are the cities associated with the life of Jesus Christ, and every believer wishes to see them. In the Middle Ages, the Church was at the height of its power, but Bethlehem, where the Messiah was born, and Jerusalem, where he was crucified, were ruled by the Muslim Turks. Christian knights, who undertook a series of crusades, set out to change that. Among them was a young Florentine crusader who vowed to bring home a small flame of fire from the Basilica of Bethlehem. Most of the warriors died in the distant Holy Land, so few of them believed that he would keep his promise,... But, a group of knights led by a figure with a lit candle arrived in Florence on Christmas Day 1099. These men swore that the tiny flame, which had travelled across the desert and the sea, came from Bethlehem. The people believed them, and with sacred reverence went to the candle to light their own Bethlehem light. This tradition has been prevealed to this day...
Medal maker Irena Hradecká, DiS., placed the Bethlehem light in the form of a crystal stone in the hands of a guardian angel, to whom she attributed the cute form of a winged baby. The composition of the reverse side is completed by the Czech-English inscription „TVŮJ ANDĚL STRÁŽNÝ – YOUR GUARDIAN ANGEL“. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the licence of a foreign issuer, which is the island of Niue, the obverse side bears its necessary attributes - the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (NZD), the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the year of issue 2021.
The coin is issued in a limited edition of 1000 pieces and presents an original gift for many occasions. It is placed in elegant packaging that can simply be transformed into a practical frame for display. The coin also includes a multilingual certificate of authenticity where you can inscribe your dedication.
