Product description
Večerníček is celebrating his 60th birthday, and, the Czech Mint is paying tribute to him with a silver commemorative coin on this festive occasion.
‘Good evening, good night!’ Večerníček is a unique format of short television fairy tales – animated and live action, cheerful and educational. Each one is different, yet they all have something in common. The character of a smiling boy with a paper cap who throws out magical story cards and helps children fall asleep is celebrating his 60th birthday. When it first started, only a few households had a television, but those who could watch never missed the regular fairy tale. From 1965, it was broadcast only once a week, but gradually more days were added, and in 1973, the programme schedule settled on daily ten-minute bedtime stories. Over the course of 60 years, hundreds of series were created, introduced by the oldest Czech television jingle. Some of them are now forgotten, while others were so successful that they became a phenomenon for several generations, and many Czech bedtime stories are even known abroad, from Australia to Zimbabwe.
The commemorative coin, based on the original work by Radek Pilař, is the work of medal maker Eva Prousková, DiS. On the obverse side, you will find Večerníček as you know – wearing a paper cap, sitting on a rocking horse and scattering fairy tale pages. Thanks to colouring technology, the character is rendered in vivid colours. As coins from the Czech Mint are issued with a foreign licence from the island of Niue, the obverse side also features a portrait of King Charles III, the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the year of issue, 2025.
The issue limit is only 600 pieces of silver coins!
