Prehistoric world

The Tyrannosaurus is the first Mesozoic lizard to appear on the Czech Mint's silver coin from the Prehistoric World series.

Tyrannosaurus
was one of the most feared predators of all time. The giant carnivore was actively seeking food, but it was also an opportunist who did not despise carrion. When hunting, it used its super eyesight, sense of smell and jaws with 18-centimetre teeth, the grip of which could exert pressure of over 30 tonnes per square centimetre. Tyrannosaurus could even chew through bone, as evidenced by the preserved fossil of the pelvis of a triceratops that became its prey. The carnivore's body was 12 metres long, in contrast to its stubby forelimbs. Although only the length of a human arm, they were sturdy and a deadly weapon.

The reverse side of the coin was dedicated by the medal maker
Petr Patka, DiS., to the depiction of the majestic tyrannosaur in vivid colours, which were achieved using colouring technology. No photographs or computer graphics were used as a template - the author of the coin created an original painting. The embossed relief shows a Mesozoic wilderness and the composition is concluded by the inscription TYRANNOSAURUS. The obverse side of the coin presents a fossilized skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus. As the licence to issue commemorative coins of the Czech Mint is granted by the Pacific island of Niue, the obverse side bears its necessary attributes - the name and portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the year of issue 2022.

You can save a coin dedicated to the dinosaur in a
collector's album, which is full of interesting facts about the life of giant lizards.
