Ferdy the Ant
The Czech Mint commemorates Ferdy the Ant's very first adventure on the last silver coin from the fairy-tale collector's mini-series. Insect hero disputed with Mr. Snail.
The first coin was issued on Ferdy's 85th birthday and therefore dedicated to him. On the second coin there was confused Pytlík the Beetle and on the third and fourth coin there was vain Miss Ladybird. However, these popular characters would not meet without Mr. Snail... When Ferdy needed to hide from heavy rain, a grumpy snail refused to let him into his house. Therefore, the ant decided to punish him - he harnessed sleeping snail and let him ride around. The Ladybird liked the idea of her own carriage, therefore she pleased Ferdy to get one. The beetle Pytlik came to help the ant when he tried to domesticate the grasshopper. Ferdy made a lot of friends during his adventures, but the grumpy Mr. Snail became one of his most dogged opponents…
The reverse side of the commemorative mintage presents a team of snails, together with Ferdy that waves to the enthusiastic onlookers. Two-dimensional illustration was transformed into plastic form by expert medal maker Irena Hradecká DiS. The obverse side bears the attributes of the island of Niue, which provides the Czech Mint with a foreign license to mint its own commemorative coins. These are the portrait and the name of Queen Elizabeth II, the year of the issue 2019, and the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD).
Remember that you can store the complete five-part mini-series in a collector's album that was part of Ferdy's first coin.
