Cat Breeds
The fifth silver coin of the Czech Mint from the Cats Breeds series features a ragdoll.
The young breed originated in the 1960s in California. The name given to it by its first breeders is the English word for rag doll. When a person takes this cat in his arms, it relaxes its muscles perfectly and resembles a toy. The Ragdoll is one of the largest cat breeds. They have a muscular body with a broad chest. Their size is visually enhanced by their rich coat, which is shorter around the wedge-shaped head and lengthens towards the bushy tail. Typical features of the breed include blue eyes and dark markings on the head, paws and tail. The giant cat is a pleasant companion - friendly, affectionate and trusting. She enjoys cuddling and doesn't mind being picked up off the ground suddenly or carried from place to place.
The ragdoll appears twice on the reverse side of the coin, which is the work of the medal maker David Kružliak. The first depiction is coloured, thus making the coloured fur stand out. The second, which is in relief, presents a relaxed cat lying on its back. The composition is completed by the inscription RAGDOLL. On the obverse side, which is common to the whole series, you will find a silhouette of a cat and paw prints. As the coins of the Czech Mint are issued with the foreign licence of the island of Niue, the obverse side bears its national emblem, the nominal value of 1 DOLLAR (NZD) and the year of issue 2025.
All twelve coins from the Cat Breeds series can be saved in a collector 's book which you can also find in the Czech Mint's offer.
