Product description
We celebrate the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Czechoslovak Red Cross in 2019. The silver commemorative coin of the Czech National Bank was issued with a nominal value of 200 CZK in a quality standard.
The human ideas of the Red Cross were found on our territory in 19th century. The official Czechoslovak arm of an international organization was established and consecrated by Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk on February 6, 1919. His daughter Alice Masarykova became the first chairperson of the Czechoslovak Socialist Movement (ČSČK) for 20 years. The stormy 20th century caused that the charity movement was not a bed of roses, but its members obeyed seven basic principles - humanity, reputation, independence, voluntariness, impartiality, neutrality and unity. The CSCK helped refugees during the period between the two world wars, it fought epidemics, built various institutions and shelters for sick people, children or the elderly, spread health education, and organized charity programs during the economic crisis The organization was dissolved after the establishment of the Protectorate, but it did not prevent its members from alleviating human suffering. The ČSČK fulfilled its mission under the dictatorship of Communist power both at home and abroad. People who are hungry can rely on the good heart of the movement with the red cross in the sign even in the 21st century...
Medal maker Asamat Baltaev, DiS won the art competition of the Czech National Bank. He placed a cross-shaped composition on both sides of the coin. On the obverse side there are the heraldic animals of the Czech Republic. On the reverse side there is the emblem together with the seven basic principles of the Czechoslovak Red Cross.
