Product description
The two-ounce silver coin with the Trojan War motif is an artistic and technical unique as well as a collector's rarity.
When the Trojan Prince Paris was deciding which of the ancient goddesses was the most graceful, he chose Aphrodite. In gratitude, she promised him the most beautiful woman in the world as his wife. She was Helen, daughter of the god Zeus, but already belonging to the Spartan king Menelaus. It is not certain whether Paris was so enchanted by her that she ran away with him, or whether he took her by force, but they went together to Troy. To win back Helen, the disgraced Menelàos enlisted the help of his brother Agamemnon. Together they then assembled an unprecedented fleet of Greek ships, on which sailed such Greeks as the invincible Achilles and the devious Odysseus. Thus began one of the most famous military clashes in human history. The War of the Gates of Troy ultimately lasted ten long years, and the victor was decided by a legendary trap…
The reverse side of the coin commemorates the destruction of Troya and the murderous rampage that was unleashed after the invaders entered the city with the help of the Trojan horse. The richly decorated obverse side is then dedicated to the necessary attributes of the issuer of the coin, which is the island of Niue - it bears its national emblem, the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2024. All this is displayed in high relief embellished with patina and gilding.
T&S Coin 's issue limit is just 500 pieces.
