Product description

The two-ounce silver coin with the motif of the biblical Samson is an artistic and technical unique as well as a collector's rarity.

The birth of Samson was heralded by an angel - the Jewish boy was said to be the liberator of the Israelites who were suffering under the rule of the Philistines. He grew up to be a sturdy man, but only realised the power God had bestowed on him when he killed a lion with his bare hands. He then turned his superhuman strength against the Philistines. He set fire to their fields and slaughtered a thousand of their warriors with the jawbone of a donkey. When they tried to capture him, he simply ripped the city gates off their hinges. But then he opened his heart to a woman named Delilah, to whom he revealed that he would lose his strength as soon as he cut his hair. The traitor stripped him of his power in his sleep and sold him to his enemies. Samson suffered in prison, and the Philistines ceased to fear him. But his hair began to grow back. When his captors took him to the temple to mock him before his deity, he broke down the pillars that supported the roof, killing himself, the Philistine rulers, and thousands of their subjects. The Israelites were free at last...
The reverse side of the coin presents the imposing Samson fighting a lion. The richly decorated obverse side is then devoted to the necessary attributes of the issuer of the coin, which is the island of Niue - it bears its national emblem, the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2023. All this is displayed in high relief embellished with a patina.

T&S Coin 's issue limit is just 500 pieces.
