Product description

This silver coin featuring the legendary heroine Joan of Arc is a unique work of art and a collector's rarity.

In the 15th century, France was plunged into chaos. The crown was uncertain, the nobility divided, and the people desperate. The Hundred Years' War had raged for generations, and the hated English controlled much of the country. A ray of light in the darkness came in the form of a seventeen-year-old girl named Joan – a simple shepherdess who had heard voices from above since childhood. They told her that she had been chosen to liberate France... Thanks to her unwavering faith and inexplicable authority, she managed to convince Charles, heir to the French throne, to entrust her with command of the army. She marched on Orléans and the unimaginable became reality – the soldiers miraculously rallied and, where experienced commanders had failed, the Maid of Orléans triumphed. The following months showed that this was not just a lucky coincidence. Joan won at Tourelles, Jargeau, Meung, Beaugency, Patay, Auxerre, Troyes, Châlons, ... and finally reached Reims – the French coronation city. The Dauphin was crowned King Charles VII here, thus gaining a decisive advantage over his English rival. France regained its lost faith and courage, but clouds began to gather over Joan. The ungrateful monarch began to fear the girl, who was adored by soldiers and commoners alike, and so he entrusted her with increasingly less important but dangerous tasks. During the defense of Compiegne, Joan was captured by the Burgundians, who were allies of England, and taken before an English court. The Inquisition accused her of heresy and sentenced her to death by burning. The French king did not intervene, and the martyr went to her beloved God. However, an immortal legend arose from her ashes...

The reverse side of the coin depicts Joan in full armor and with a sword in her fist, defending France with her own body. The divine favor she received is expressed by the rich gilding of the relief. The obverse side is dedicated to an inexhaustible array of weapons, revealing that the coin is part of a series dedicated to legendary warriors. As the coin is issued with the license of a foreign issuer, the island of Niue, its obverse side also bears the necessary attributes – the national emblem, the nominal value of FIVE DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue, 2024.

The issue limit of the coin by T&S Coin is only 500 pieces.
