Product description
The two-ounce silver coin with the motif of the famous painting of a girl and Cupid is an artistic and technical unique as well as a romantic gift.
William-Adolphe Bouguereau was a French painter of the Realist period. First admired, then reviled, and finally rediscovered. Mythology and femininity became the most common themes in his work. The two come together in a famous painting from 1880 eloquently titled Young Girl Defending herself to Eros. The naked woman on the canvas pushes a winged boy away from her with outstretched arms. He is none other than Eros, the god of love, who tries in vain to strike her heart with a loving arrow. Although the girl resists at first, her look and smile suggest that she is ready to give in to tender affection. Perhaps she hesitates, perhaps it's all just a romantic game...
The reverse side of the coin, which is an embossed reconstruction of a historical painting, faithfully captures the girl's expression - the moment between excited anticipation and hesitant fear of love. Eros´ wings stand out thanks to selective gold plating. The richly decorated obverse side is then dedicated to the necessary attributes of the issuer of the coin, the State of Cameroon, bearing its national emblem, the nominal value of 2000 FRANCS CFA (XAF) and the year of issue 2023, all of which stand out in high relief embellished with a patina.
T&S Coin's issue limit is only 500 pieces.
