Product description
The two-ounce silver coin with the motif of a pirate black stamp is a unique work of art and technical masterpiece, as well as a collector's rarity.
On the decks of ships flying the black flag, which roamed the seas at the very edge of civilization, there were no prosecutors, defense attorneys, jurors, or judges. Although pirates did not follow the usual worldly rules, this does not mean that lawlessness reigned among them – guilt and punishment were decided by a simple majority. The will of the crew was the law, and anyone who defied it quickly found themselves in disfavor with those with whom they had shared rum and booty just yesterday. The verdict for a pirate who weakened, hesitated, or betrayed was a black mark. If a sailor found an ordinary piece of paper blackened with soot on his bed or in his chest of personal belongings, he knew that he had lost the support of the crew and that his life was over. Once the unfortunate man had received his silent sentence, there was no appeal. The verdict was final, and the condemned man had only one option left – to accept the fate decided by the ruthless pirate democracy...
Some pirates were so feared that people saw them more as demons, and it is just such a ghostly buccaneer that you will find on the reverse side of the coin. In one hand he clutches a black mark, in the other a knife. On his skeletal ring finger, there is a real treasure – a ring set with a genuine black diamond. The surrounding relief takes you to the deck of a pirate ship. The richly decorated obverse side is dedicated to the essential attributes of the coin's issuer, the island of Niue – it bears its national emblem, the nominal value of 5 DOLLARS (NZD), and the year of issue 2026. All this stands out in high relief, highlighted by patina, selective gilding, and UV printing.
The mintage of the coin by T&S Coin is only 500 pieces.
