One troy ounce coin with panda motif
Silver coins depicting panda are part of a series of silver bullion coins issued by the People’s Republic of China. The design of the panda is changed every year and the coins are struck in different sizes and denominations. The fineness of the first silver Panda coins with a diameter of 38.6 mm minted in 1983—1985 was 900/1000; the mintages were only 10,000 pieces per year. In 1986, the mintage of pandas was discontinued, and coins issued in 1987 were minted in proof quality from 925/1000 fine silver with a diameter 40 mm. The main motif of the obverse side is the Temple of Heaven in the centre with Chinese characters on top in matt band and the year of issue on the bottom.
The reverse side features the denomination of the coin 10 Yuan, specification of fineness, weight, and a composition of three big pandas with a plant motif in the background.
