Product description
The Unc silver coin with a phoenix motif is an artistic and technical unique as well as a collector's rarity.
We know the word phoenix from Greek - literally meaning "bird of red-nautical colour" - but mythical feathered creatures endowed with supernatural powers are found in the mythologies of many nations. There is Bennu in Egypt, Garuda and Bherunda in India, Simorgh in Persia, Paskunji in Georgia, Anqa in Arabia, Konrul in Turkey, Me Byi Karmo in Tibet, Fenghuang and Zhu Que in China, Hō-ō in Japan and we know the Firebird in Slavic countries. Each of them represents different values - while Fenghuang expresses the harmony of the feminine and masculine principles, Anqa was so predatory that God had to destroy him... But one thing these birds have in common is that they are a symbol of the eternal cycle of rebirth. This cycle takes the following form: once every five centuries the old Phoenix bursts into flames and perishes, only to rise from the ashes in full strength.
The reverse side of the coin presents a majestic phoenix with outstretched wings. Colouring technology has given his feathers a fiery appearance. The surroundings of the mythical creature are filled with floral ornaments. The richly decorated obverse side is then dedicated to the necessary attributes of the issuer of the coin, which is the island of Niue - it bears its national emblem, the nominal value of 2 DOLLARS (NZD) and the year of issue 2023. All this is displayed in high relief embellished with a patina.
T&S Coin's mintage is only 1,000 pieces.
